lost blogging: the August edition

as you might have noticed, I have lost interest in blogging.  that only took seven or eight years.  I don't know if I will keep this up but I thought I would do some catching up on past events.

today's post, what I did on the rest of my summer vacation.

I made a receiving blanket with this rad civil rights themed fabric - the other side is a flannel polka dot.

I made another totebag in the same pattern as the last four I made:

I went to North Carolina to take a two week class on making wood jewelry with my sister.  She was a lot more prolific and skilled in her output, but I managed a few things...

a set of rings:

striped wood beads/pendants, made by laminating together two woods and then carving down:

a carved wood dogwood brooch for my mom:

wood carving is hard.  I think I will stick to two-dimensional crafts in the future.  I am impressed by people who can visualize a three-dimensional product within a square block of wood. it is a skill I do not possess.

Fun stuff. Thanks for showing them. I always like to see what you are up to. To be totally honest, I've kind of lost the zip to blogging myself. I think I've been out there for 5 years? Lost track. Anyway, I'm taking it slower. I hate to stop altogether but it has lost the fun aspect.
